The High Park Fire is approximately 15 miles west of Fort Collins, has burned an estimated 20,000 acres and continues to grow. High winds and dry fuels are driving the blaze, with additional evacuations ordered. Eighteen structures are confirmed lost or damaged and others are threatened.
In addition to evacuating people and protecting homes, crews are trying to protect communication towers that relay all of the public-safety communications in Larimer County.
In New Mexico, the Little Bear Fire near Ruidoso, has burned 26,904 acres and is 0% contained. This fire began June 4th from lightning and has destroyed 35 structures.
Better weather conditions expected Monday should help firefighters in New Mexico.
